Mangaluru, Aug 23,2017: The National Highway between Mangaluru and Karkala would be converted into a four-lane road of 45 meters width. The district administration has approved the project at a meeting held here on August 22, Tuesday in the presence of DK District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai. The 45 km stretch of road is expected to be converted into four-lane at an estimated cost of Rs 1000 crores.
NHAI Project Director S P Somashekhar who spoke on the occasion presented the revised blue print of the road project wherein it has been envisaged to build 10 under bridges, one over bridge apart from big over bridges at Kaikamba and Moodbidri. The project will also comprise construction of two bypass roads at Moodbidri and Gurupur while a wide bridge across Gurupur river is also planned.
The official informed that some minor changes have been made in the project at Kudupu, Yedapadavu, Sanoor, Mijar and Todar in view of objections by public.
Preliminary notification for land acquisition will be published with the approval of the DC, he added.
The meeting was attended among others by Deputy Commissioner Dr K G Jagadeesha, Additional DC Kumar, Mayor Kavitha Sanil, MLA JR Lobo and ZP CEO M R Ravi.
