NH Land Acquisition Compensation Adalat settles 25 cases ; Rs 75 lakhs distributed

 Mangaluru, June 12, 2016 : A special adalat aimed at distributing compensation to those whose land has been acquired for the  National Highway Four-laning project from Nantur to Talapady and from Suratkal to Mulki, was held at Mini Vidhana Saudha on June 11 Saturday. If the Adalat and t he compensation  brought smiles on some faces, some others were not happy with the compensation amount while a few more struggled for want of some documents.

Of the  several people who have already received compensation, a total of 376 had appealed for higher compensation and  of them 296 land owners were supposed  to receive higher compensation during the Adalat. The increased compensation has already been distributed to 87 land owners. A total of 56.72 hectares of land have been acquired for the NH widening and 900 land owners will have to be paid a compensation of Rs 53.63 crores.

Hundreds of applicants had arrived to participate in the special adalat and those who had all the relevant document were handed over compensation cheques in the presence of Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim, Additional DC Kumar and Assistant Commissioner Dr Ashok Kumar.

The DC said  many applicants had not updated their accounts and had not submitted relevant documents. Measures will be taken to  clear all the files in the days to come, he added.

On Saturday a total of Rs 75 lakhs compensation has been distributed. A total of  25 applications were received  of which 23 were pertaining to the demand for higher compensation. The applications were cleared and a compensation of Rs 46 lakhs were distributed while  Rs 29 lakh compensation was provided with regard to two cases, said  Assistant Commissioner Dr.  Ashok.
