Mangalore Today News Network

Ramanath rai may 16 Mangalore, May 16: Ramanath Rai, the president of the DK District Congress Committee (DKDCC), said that, since the BJP-led state government has no moral rights to rule, the recommendation of Governor H. R. Bharadwaj to dissolve the government is more than welcome. He was addressing reporters at the office of the DKDCC today.

Adding that the government has the power to dissolve the government, he said that the BJP-led state government believes in fascist policies of holding on to power by hook or by crook. Stating that the latest order of the Supreme Court has sounded the death knell of the BJP government, Rai informed that the government no longer has the support of the majority in the legislative assembly, owing to which the BJP-led state government should be dissolved at the earliest possible.

Recalling the move made by the Speaker Bopaiah and CM B. S. Yeddyurappa to disqualify 16 MLAs, he said that the Supreme Court has ruled that the speaker was not compelled to decide the disqualification application submitted by the CM within the deadline specified by the governor, which makes it quite clear that the speaker was attempting to meet the deadline to conduct the vote of confidence. Rai said that efforts were made to disqualify the MLAs must before the day on which the vote of confidence was to be conducted.

Remarking that the speaker and the CM were willing to stoop to any level to manipulate the vote of confidence motion, he said that they can do anything illegal to disqualify some more MLAs to save the government. He said that the Congress has submitted a memorandum to the governor through the DC.

Congress leaders Ibrahim Kodikal, Ivan D’Souza, U. T. Khader, and many others were also present.
