More grants towards welfare of minorities during Congress rule: Former CM Siddaramaiah

Mangaluru, Feb 3, 2019: It was the erstwhile Congress government which raised the grants towards welfare of minorities from Rs 400 crore to Rs 3,000 crore, informed  former chief minister Siddaramaiah.

He was speaking  at a function arranged  at Manjanady Naringana by the local Al Madina institution to celebrate a mass marriage ceremony of 25 pairs  to mark its silver jubilee.

Siddaramaiah further said there had been  plans to raise the grants towards welfare of minorities to Rs 10,000 if the Congress government got a  majority.

He said it was a noble task to identify poor families and help in the marriage of girls.

DK District in-charge Minister U T Khader who was present as a chief guest, said the government had provided a grant of Rs one crore to Al Madina institution as per the assurance given  by him during his previous visit.

Y Abdulla Kunhi,  Chairman of Yenepoya institutions and  Mumtaz Ali Khan felicitated Siddaramaiah on the occasion.

Former minister Ramanatha Rai, Al-Madina President Abbas Musliyar, Kanachur institutions chief U Kanachur Monu, Ullal Block Congress President Santosh Shetty Asaigoli and others were present.
