Moral policing in State is criminal : CM

Puttur, Mar 15, 2015:   Culprits who try to disturb peace will be dealt with sternly.  Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said the State government will not give any scope for miscreants to disturb communal harmony in the State.

Speaking at the inaugural of the Mini Vidhana Soudha, Morarji Desai Residential School and ground breaking ceremony for the extension of inspection bunglow at Puttur on March 14, he said " Instances of moral policing in coastal Karnataka are seen. There is no word-"moral policing" in law. Stringent action will be initiated against those who indulge in moral policing. No communal disturbance should take place in a developed district. People should raise their voice against those who create communal militancy and disturb peace in the society."

Mini Vidhana Soudhas’ will come up in all the taluks to bring all the taluk offices under one roof. Rs 10 crore has been sanctioned to Bantwal and Belthangady mini vidhana soudhas. The Chief Minister said the budget would support farmers, the poor and the underprivileged.

"The state government is committed to fulfill the aspirations of the Constitution. The poor will be brought to the main stream of the society. The State government will treat all equally irrespective of caste, creed and religion. The government is committed to social justice."   CM said a Cabinet sub committee under the chairmanship of Minister for Forests & Ecology, Ramanath Rai has been constituted to gather the opinion of local residents on the recommendations of Kasturirangan committee on conservation of Western Ghats.

After discussing the report in the Cabinet meeting, it will be sent to the Central government. " We have to await Union Minister D V Sadananada Gowda and MP Shobha Karandlaje’s action is after the State submits its report," the CM said.

MLA Shakunthala Shetty  demanded that the government should set up a medical college for Puttur.  Padumale, Beeramale, Bendrtheertha and Sangama Kshetra in Uppinangady should be developed as tourist spots. Rs one crore announced in the budget for the construction of Dr Shivaram Karanth memorial should be given to Balavana and work be speeded up.
