Moodbidri: Union Minister Moily lays foundation for Kannada Bhavan, Synthetic Track

Moodbidri, Jan 20, 2014: Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas M Veerappa Moily  laid the foundation for a Kannada Bhavan of Bharath Scouts and Guides which will come up near the Swaraj Maidan here  at a cost of Rs 6 crore in commemoration of Alva’s Vishwa Nudisiri Virasat, on January 19, Sunday.  He also laid the foundation for a  Synthetic track to be laid at Swaraj Maidan at a cost of Rs 4.5 crores.

Speaking on the occasion, he  said the  Union  Petroleum Ministry has a development fund aimed at offering incentives and scholarships to sports achievers.  He said the  Union Government was committed to encourage sports talents. Stating that setting of up Ratnakaravarni Study Centre at Moodbidri was his aim,  Moily said though there as a plan to set up the same through Mangalore University, the sanction of Rs 1 crore grant to the Kannada and culture Department by the CM has  given rise to problem. He requested State Minister Abhayachandra Jain to ensure that the funds were sanctioned to the Mangalore University.

Minister Jain who also spoke, assured that the synthetic track works would be complete before the next monsoon.

DK District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai, Alva’s Education Foundation Chairman Dr Mohan Alva, Urban Development Minister Vinaykumar Sorake, Youth Empowerment and Sports Department Director Vikas Kumar, former minister K Amarnath Shetty, V Parshwanath, DDPI and   MG Mohan, District Commissioner of Scouts and Guides were also present.
