Moodbidri : Trio arrested for illegally transporting antlers

Moodbidri, Dec 03, 2014 :  Three persons who were illegally transporting antlers in a Maruti Omni were arrested by a CCB police team led by inspector Valentine D’Souza on December 2, Tuesday.

Those arrested are Mohammed Wazeer (22)  of Puttige Padavu, Firoz Khan (30) from Bengaluru, and Girish (23) from Chennagiri, Davangere. Four pairs of antlers,  four cell phones and a Maruti Omni were seized from them. The value of the seized goods has been estimated at Rs 5 lakh.

The trio  was arrested  near the Moodbidri bus stand after the cops signalled their car to stop on suspicion.The CCB team had earlier got information that the  trio were transporting the antlers from Ubrani in Davangere and were heading towards Moodbidri to find buyers.

The three were later handed over to Moodbidri police. It has been gathered that  one of the accused Firoz Khan  was earlier arrested in a robbery case in Bengaluru seven years ago and later acquitted by the court.
