Moodbidri, Dec 01, 2017 : The 14th edition of Alva’s Nudisiri, a three day literary and cultural extravaganza got off to a colourful start at the Ratnakaravarni Vedike of M Gopalakrishna Adiga Auditorium at Vidyagiri in Moodbidri under the aegis of the Alva’s Education Foundation on December 1, Friday. Dr C N Ramachandran, renowned critic and writer inaugurated Nudisiri.
In his address, he said when people are sensitive towards their identity in the social and political fields there will be a rise in the number of ’others’ who eventually become dissenters." The clash between the majority and minority communities in a democratic set up also gives rise to these ’others,’" said Dr. Ramachandran.
"When people are differentiated on the basis of their food habits and language, there tends to be differences," he said. In a multi-religious, multi-cultural and multi-linguistic nation like India all people can lead a life of harmony in all respects by sinking all differences. This is the need of the hour," he further added.
Dr Manu Baligar, President of Kannada Sahitya Parishat also spoke on the occasion. Eminent Kannada writer and film director Dr Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar is the Chairman of Nudisiri.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA Abhayachandra Jain, MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik, Erya Lakshminarayana Alva, Aikala Harish Shetty, former minister Amarnath Shetty and others were present.
Dr M Mohan Alva , Chairman of Alva’s Foundation felicitated Nudisiri Chairman on the occasion.
A colourful procession displaying the cultural richness of the region was taken out from Vidyagiri main entrance to the Sammelan venue prior to the inaugural.
