Udupi, Nov 10, 2015: Former union minister M Veerappa Moily has said that Prime Minister must admit that the defeat of the BJP in Bihar assembly elections was his personal defeat.
Speaking to reporters here on November 9, Monday, he said the Bihar defeat is a lesson for Modi who, he alleged had ignored seniors on all issues. Expressing his concern over the rising intolerance in the nation, Moily said BJP’s defeat in the Bihar assembly elections is a defeat of those people who were trying to curb freedom of expression. He accused BJP Chief Amit Shah of trying to polarise people for political gains.
On the controversial Yettinahole Project, Moily who is blamed for being responsible for giving a go ahead to the project, claimed that he had no personal interest in the project. He also claimed that it was not him that senior Congress leader B Janardhana Poojary had referred to while blaming that two leaders from the district were responsible for implementing the project.
Referring to the controversy over Tipu Jayanthi celebrations, he said opposition to celebrations are baseless and no one can twist history which states that Tipu had fought for India’s freedom.
