Modi cannot remain silent forever on conversion issue : Deve Gowda

Udupi, Dec 26, 2014:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi cannot avoid giving a statement  on the row over conversions forever.There will come a day when  he will have to give an explanation, said JD(S) supremo and former prime minister HD Deve Gowda.

Speaking to reporters here on December 25, Thursday, Gowda said the Prime Minister’s agenda of development would be hit hard by the Ghar Wapsi campaign of the Sangh Parivar.

Asked if the silence of the Prime Minister was deliberate, Gowda said “One cannot say anything about it now. But his silence will not help in fulfilling his development agenda.”

On the recent Bill proposed by the state government to take over mismanaged Mutts, Gowda while stating that the government has already stayed the Bill, at the same time added there was a need for a clarification regarding ‘managed’ and ‘mismanaged’ mutts.

Deviprasad Shetty, District President of JD(S), Shalini Shetty Kenchanur, District Women’s wing President of JD(S) and other leaders were present.
