Modern teaching methods needed SJEC faculty

Mangaluru, Jan 04, 2020:  The Department of Mechanical Engineering of St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC) organised a TEQIP 1.3-sponsored a five-day faculty development programme on Outcome Based Education (OBE) and NBA Accreditation for faculty members of Engineering institutes.

The programme was organised in association with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi; Aryabhatta Knowledge University, Patna; and Biju Patnaik University of Technology, Rourkela.

The programme was intended to address the implementation of the OBE system at affiliated institutions. Specific responsibilities of institution-level administrators, heads of individual programmes and individual faculty were addressed through specially designed interactive sessions.

The faculty development programme was inaugurated by Dr Umakanth P Kulkarni, professor and head, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, at SDM College of Engineering and Technology, Dharwad.

Speaking on the implementation of OBE, Dr Kulkarni said that it is directly proportional to the learning that takes place inside the classroom. He urged the participants to embrace modern teaching pedagogies that eventually enhance the overalll teaching-learning process.
