Missing woman reportedly jumped into Netravathi River; search underway

Bantwal, July 11, 2020:    A woman from Sajipamuda village  is suspected to have  committed suicide by jumping into the Netravathi river from the Panemangalore bridge. Presently expert divers have launched a search for the body of the missing woman.

 

The woman  has been identified as Gopi Poojary (49).  It is learnt, the ailing woman was staying at her elder sister’s house at Chikkayyamuta  near B C Road since some days. On Friday night the woman who retired to bed as usual after dinner was found missing at 5 am  on Saturday.

When family members launched a search, her shawl and  bangles were found near the Panemangalore new bridge following which there  arose the suspicion that she might have committed suicide.

It has been gathered that she had once earlier attempted suicide at home.  Bantwal Town Police are conducting the investigation.
