Missing minor girls from Pamboor back home, abductor behind bars

Udupi, Feb 26, 2015: There has been a happy ending to the case of the missing of two minor girls from the Dharmashree Colony at Pamboor. If one of the girls  had returned a week after going missing, the other girl  has now been traced along with her abductor, a labourer at Adoni in Andhra Pradesh.

The girls named Kallamma and Shalini, both 15 years of age and neighbours were reported missing  on February 17, Tuesday evening. Even a youth named Raghavendra alias Raghu who was said to be friendly with the girls had gone missing  giving room for doubts. Based on the complaints of the families of the girl, Raghavendra was booked by the police and has now been produced before the court.

Raghavendra who hailed from Varthur was residing in a rented house in Pamboor and was reportedly in love with  Shalini.

It has now been gathered that when Raghavendra and Shalini decided to elope, Kallamma too  had come along with them. It is said the three  had  come to Katapady   and later walked till Kaup and spent the night  in front of a shop and then left for Mangaluru the next morning. Interrogations revealed that Raghavendra later sold off his cell phone and purchased three train tickets for them to travel to Bengaluru. There he  took the girls to his grandmother’s house at Tirumalasettihalli near Whitefield. The old woman  allowed them to stay just for a day and after giving Rs 1000 to Raghavendra asked him to drop the girls back home. Later  Raghavendra sent back Kallamma by a bus on February 23 and left to a relative’s house at Bellary with Shalini. Police who gathered information about the same,contacted the relative who informed that Raghavendra and the girl are at Adoni in Andhra Pradesh. The police then rushed to the place and took to two to custody.

Surprisingly, Raghavendra told the cops that he had chosen to take the two girls even  when he had just Rs 45 in his pockets.
