Missing minor girl from Kanyana traced at Tiruvananthapuram; lover escapes

Bantwal, Mar 10, 2015: A minor girl from Karopady in Kanyana village  who went missing mysteriously  a few days ago has been traced at Tiruvananthapuram in Kerala by the police. However, a youth identified as Iqbal alias Ikku from Poyyagadade in Kanyana who had reportedly abducted the girl, managed to escape. It is learnt, the two were in love.

iqbaEarlier a missing complaint was filed at Vittal Police Station after the girl who had left home for college did not return. Investigations later on revealed that the girl had left with Iqbal. Police later registered a case of kidnapping as the girl was a minor.

It has been gathered that the Vittal police could trap the duo after the staff of the hotel at Tiruvananthapuram where the duo was staying  grew suspicious. On questioning, the two revealed the truth and very soon the Vittal police were informed. Though the hotel staff had confined the two in a room, Iqbal managed to escape by the time the police reached the place.

The girl has been  produced before the Vittal Circle Inspector Belliappa on March 9 Monday when she said that Iqbal had taken her to Peruvai by an autorickshaw and from there to Uppala and Kasargod by bus. They then left for Tiruvananthapuram by train, the girl is learnt to have told the police.

Police are now on the lookout for Iqbal who is booked under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
