Missing car driver’s body found at Padubidri

Udupi, Aug 30: The body of car driver Govardhan, who has been missing for 3 days, was found in a decomposed stated near Padubidri along the Karkala – Belman road on Monday. 


Four unidentified persons hired Govardhan’s car to go to Karkal at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, near KSRTC Bus Stand. The car was found abandoned near the main gates of Suzlon at Padubidri and signs of a struggle were seen in and around the car.

Govardhan had called his brother Hemanth on his cell phone at 10:00 p.m. When Govardhan did not return and could not even be found, Hemanth lodged a missing person complaint at the police station. On Saturday, the police found Govardhan’s purse and registration papers near the Adve culvert, a short distance from Padubidri. 


Yesterday, the car driver’s body was discovered near Padubidri. The body has been taken to Wenlock Hospital for post mortem, and the police are investigating the murder. 


Govardhan of Bejai has parents, two brothers, and a sister. He used to work as a pump operator for Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) and as a hired car driver after duty. He had purchased the Indica car under the SC/ST scheme five months back.
