Miscreants snatch chain of elderly woman

Mangaluru, Sep 29,2016: Chain snatched at Kadri Kambala : Two men on a motor bike, snatched a gold chain of a 74-year-old woman on Kadri Kambla Road on Sept 28, Wednesday.  The Mangaluru East police said Nagaratna, a resident of Inland Enclave apartment, left her house around 6.45 a.m. for a walk. As she was heading towards Circuit House, two motorcycle-borne men followed her.

The pillion rider snatched the gold chain, weighing 10 gm, from the woman as the two-wheeler sped past her. Though woman raised an alarm, there was no one to  her help. The police suspect it to be an act of habitual offenders are checking on CCTVs available within range.

***Theft in Hebri temple :  Thieves broke into a temple and made away with gold ornaments worth Rs. 6 lakh at Kabbinale village coming under the Hebri police station limits in Udupi district. According to the police, thieves broke into the Sri Annapurneshwari Temple between 7 p.m. on September 26 and 7 a.m. on September 27. They decamped with gold ornaments of the deity, whose value is estimated to be Rs. 6 lakh.  A case had been registered at Hebri police station and investigations are on.
