Minister urges KSRTC to give priority to rural bus services

Udupi, Jan 19, 2017: State Minister for Fisheries and Udupi District Minister Pramod Madhwaraj who presided over the  Traffic Adalat held  on behalf of the KSRTC  at the DC office on January 18, Wednesday urged the KSRTC authorities to give more attention to bus services from rural areas to Udupi.

Interests of stdents should also be kept in mind while permitting new buses, the Minister said.

A total of 18 applications and  29 proposals were received dring the Adalat. The Minister directed the authorities to  take them into consideration and   decide on the matter at the earliest.

To a question, KSRTC   Divisional Traffic Controller Jaishanth Kumar said  three buses have been introduced as part of Kundapur rural service and added 30 more buses would be pressed into service in the next three months. He also informed that 12 JN-NURM buses are operating in Udupi while the rest would be operational no sooner their timings are announced.

 Vivekananda  Hegde, KSRTC Mangaluru Divisional Controller,  Deputy Commissioner T Venkatesh and many officials were present.
