Minister takes stock of development in Udupi district

Udupi, Aug 16, 2016: Speaking after unfurling the national flag at the 70th Independence Day programme on Aug 15, Monday,Udupi  District In-Charge Minister Pramod Madhwaraj said a comprehensive proposal to construct a series of vented dams to be built in the district at a cost of Rs 537 crore has been submitted to the state government.

He said 432 vented dams will be built. Under state highway development programme, 71.89 km-long state highway is built at a cost of Rs 3750 lakh. The state highway and the main roads in the district are revamped at a cost of Rs 4632.23 lakh and 117.73 lakh respectively, he added.

Asserting that the updated programmes launched recently in the district has immense benefits and is popular among the masses, Madhwaraj said people, especially the students and the youths are benefitted as the process of issuing caste and income certificates has been expedited through the facility, he added.

Detailing on the new synthetic lawn court to be built in the CMC limits, he maintained that the project will be taken up at a cost of Rs 350 lakh. Asserting that Bhoo Samruddhi Yojane is a blessing in disguise for the farmers, the minister added Rs 225.60 lakh has been released on various supportive measures for agricultural and horticultural crops.

Emphasising on the Bapuji Seva Kendra and its services, the minister said the Kendras have been opened in all 158 gram panchayats. Services offered at Revenue Department and Panchayat Raj Department are offered at these service centres, he noted.

Fisheries and District In-Charge Minister Pramod Madhwaraj received the  guard of honour at the 70th Independence Day programme in Udupi on Independence day.  Colourful cultural programmes by students of various institutions marked the occasion. As many as 450 police personnel and 18 teams of  students took part in the programmes.
