Minister plans appointing MD for Smart City project

Mangaluru, June 17, 2018: In a proper perspective on the importance of the Smart City Project for Mangaluru city, urban development and housing minister U T Khader, also now DK in-charge,  is planning to appoint a managing director for the project, which is being taken through a special purpose vehicle. "We will ensure that a suitable person will be chosen as the MD for the Smart City project. I have already asked for a master plan for the project," he said.

Khader, who has been appointed as the district in-charge minister of Dakshina Kannada, said he will soon convene a meeting with bureaucrats, academicians and builders to assess the situation and chalk out measures for overall development of the city and the district. Apart from Smart City Project, his priority will also be ensuring working towards the implementation of Phase II of Asian Development Bank project, which would alleviate the UGD woes of the city.

He said he has decided to adopt a three-tier strategy to cater to the woes that affect the district. "We, the representatives from this district, will put pressure on the state government on issues that are supposed to be resolved at the state level. For matters that need the attention of the central government, we will form a delegation and visit the ministries concerned in New Delhi," he said.

Seeking active participation from the public in further developing the district, Khader said he will work towards uplift of all classes while he urged the people to maintain peace and harmony .

Assuring houses to all under various housing projects, he said allotment orders will be handed over to beneficiaries within a week after they are routed to Bengaluru from the respective taluk offices.
