Minister Sorake lauds Ramayana, as example of humanities

Udupi, Oct 28, 2015: Speaking at the inaugural of the Valmiki Jayanti celebrations in Udupi on Oct 27,   Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake said the values upheld in the epic Ramayana authored by Maharshi Valmiki is relevant even today, as it reflects the great humanitarian qualities through various characters.

He went on to say the epic carries messages for the society to develop. Referring to the example of Valmiki, who hails from a ’low caste’ background could authored an epic like Ramayana, it proves talents exists everywhere, however it is essential to identify and nurture them. He said awareness programmes should be initiated to bring the tribal communities to the mainstream society.

The minister added that under the programmes initiated for the original inhabitants in the district, 29 auto rickshaws, four tourism cars, two trucks for the transport of goods were given to the unemployed youth of the tribal communities, while an auto rickshaw is given to one Malekudiya beneficiary. The minister said that 24 beneficiaries belonging to Koraga community are given auto rickshaws. Besides, 19 people are given housing facilities wherein the government will bear all the expences.

The Government First Grade College principal Dr Rajendra S Nayak said the epic narrates the importance of life after birth. The messages in the epic are ever relevant. It is a blend of love, affection, sympathy and sacrifice.
