Minister Rai is worth Rs 6.46 cr, Jain has prime lands in city

Mangaluru, Apr 20, 2018: Bantwal MLA and Dakshina Kannada District In-charge minister B Ramanath Rai’s total assets are worth Rs 6.46 crore. The minister’s family has liabilities worth Rs 72.48 lakh.


B Ramanath Rai...Rai, who is contesting Assembly elections for the eighth time, has declared his assets in his nomination papers. He has assets worth Rs 3.80 crore with Rs 3.26 crore of immovable property and Rs 53.87 lakh movable property. Rai has mentioned in his affidavit that he is 66-years-old and is a BA graduate.

He has Rs 2 lakh cash in hand. The amount deposited in various banks, two cars and 100 gram gold are worth Rs 53.87 lakh. Rai owns 15.22 acres of agricultural land and 1.81 acres of non-agricultural land. His liabilities are worth Rs 34.59 lakh.

Ramanath Rai’s spouse Dhanabhagya Rai has Rs 1.90 lakh cash in hand, along with movable properties including money deposited in five banks, insurance policies, an Ambassador car and Rs 1.4 kg gold, amounting to Rs 86.63 lakh. She owns 13.81 acres of agricultural land and 76 cents non-agricultural land, which are worth Rs 1.03 crore. She has liabilities worth Rs 37.89 lakh.

Ramanath Rai’s daughter Charishma Rai has Rs 1.80 lakh cash in hand. Money deposited in four bank accounts, an Ambassador car, Mahindra pick-up vehicle, one goods transport vehicle and 400 gram gold worth Rs 34.17 lakh.   This apart, she owns an immovable property worth Rs 21 lakh.  Rai’s son Chaitradeep does not own any immovable property.  He has Rs 90,000 cash in hand. Money deposited in three bank accounts and insurance policies are worth Rs 21.82 lakh.

Jain’s assets  :  Abhayachandra Jain, who has filed his nomination papers from Congress party, to contest from Moodbidri Assembly constituency, has represented Moodbidri Assembly four times. He is into the transport business and owns six buses.

As mentioned in his affidavit, Abhayachandra Jain is 69-years-old and is a diploma holder. Jain’s wife Manjula owns 18 buses.  The total assets of his family is worth Rs 7.31 crore and the liabilities are worth Rs 7.77 crore.

He has mentioned in his affidavit that during the fiscal year 2016-17, his income was Rs 15.12 lakh. But, during the same year, his wife incurred a loss of Rs 77.56 lakh.  Abhayachandra has Rs 30,056 cash in hand.

His immovable properties, including money deposited in bank accounts, mutual fund investments, 10% partnership in Crystal Associates, six buses, four cars, 365 gram gold and 300 gram silver amounts to Rs 81.62 lakh.

Jain owns 20.18 acre land, non-agricultural land in Mangaluru, three apartments and one apartment in Mangaluru respectively and a land in Bykampady industrial estate, all amounting to Rs 2.93 crore.  His liabilities are worth Rs 2.08 crore.

Abhayachandra Jain’s wife Manjula has Rs 3.59 lakh cash in hand.  Her money deposited in various bank accounts, 10% partnership in Crystal Associates, 18 buses, two cars, 300 gram gold, 200 gram silver all amounts to Rs 2.15 crore of movable property.   She owns an apartment in Bengaluru, partnership in properties in Bengaluru and Mangaluru, worth Rs 1.41 crore of immovable property.

She has liabilities worth Rs 5.69 crore. Abhayachandra and Manjula’s daughter Kshama owns 300 gram gold worth Rs 3 lakh.
