Minister Khader underlines need for hospitals to ’Go Green’

Mangaluru, Jan 24, 2016:  Minister for Health and Family Welfare U.T. Khader on Jan 23, Saturday said there was a need to put in place a policy on scientific disposal of hospital waste, with the help of modern technology, and urged managements of hospitals to come forward with ideas in this regard.

 

Speaking after inaugurating a one-day conclave on ‘Go Green in Healthcare’, organised by Father Muller Medical College Hospital here. He said disposal of solid waste has become a major issue these days, and there is an urgent need to formulate specific plans.  Such conclaves would help devise proper methodology.

Appreciating some hospitals for having adopted ‘Go Green’ initiative, Minister Khader said he would examine whether such an initiative could be extended to government hospitals too. Starting with major hospitals in district levels, he added that the initiative needs to be extended to all hospitals.
