Minimum auto fare hiked to Rs 30 from April 1

Mangaluru,Feb 28, 2020: A long pending demand of the autorickshaw drivers of Mangaluru has been fulfilled with the administration issuing an order to increase the minimum autorickshaw fare from the existing Rs 25 to Rs 30 with effect from April 1.  The decision came at the Road transport meeting held at the DC office on February 27 Friday under the presidentship of Deputy Commissioner Sindhu Rupesh.

As per the new orders, the minimum fare for the first 1.5 kms is Rs 30 following which the fare would be Rs 15 per every additional kilometre. There is no waiting charge for the first 15 minutes, while it would be Rs 5 per every 15 minutes after that.  Accordingly, luggage upto 20 kg is free while  a fee of Rs 5 per kg will be applicable for luggage  above 20 kgs.   The autorickshaw drivers are also permitted to charge one and a half times the fare between 10 pm and 5 am.

The Deputy Commissioner also assured to conduct RTO meetings once every three months  as requested by the drivers.
