Milagres students boycott classes over inconvenience in Friday timings

Mangaluru July 26, 2016: Students of city’s Milagres degree college boycotted classes yet again on July 26 Tuesday and staged protest over the inconvenience in college timings.

Degree students were irked with the timings of the college and demanded the increase in duration of lunch break on Fridays to facilitate Muslim fraternity to offer prayers in Mosques.

Our demands are clear that to increase the duration of the Friday timings. Last year lunch duration was 12:35 to 2pm now it is reduced due as we won’t get time to have lunch after the prayer, said one of the student.

He also alleged about the rigid rules of the college as students are not allowed to enter the class after 9am. There are some students who come from far places and chances of not reaching on time; it might be due to traffic jam or other reasons.

Youth Congress President Mithun Rai interrupted and after the negotiation with the college administration brought situation under control and assured to fulfill the demands of the students. Later students resumed back to their classes.

Previously on July 22nd Milagres students boycotted classes demanding for the same.
