Mangaluru, July 17, 2015: The Suratkal Police registered as many as 60 cases against drivers for drunk driving in a span of just three hours at Haleyangady on July 15, Wednesday night. A fine of Rs 12,000 was also collected including some cases of violation of the seat belt rule.
Inspector Manjunath along with SIs Purushottam and Gopalkrishna Bhat were part if this operation during midnight which was a rude shock to many who were driving in an inebriated condition. There were many cases of drunk driving wherein the drivers were also using deafening loud music. The cops used breath analysers to detect the guilty and fined them. Many even picked up a futile argument that they had not consumed liquor. Most of those who were trapped were truck drivers.
