Mescom line man dies of electrocution near commissioner’s office

Mangaluru: August 21, 2015: A Mescom line man died and another seriously injured allegedly due to electrocution while they were fixing a fuse at an HT installation near police commissioner’s office near AB Shetty Circle on Friday.

 

 

 

 

 

The deceased is identified as Alex, 40, a resident of Bejai. The injured is Narayana, 42, a resident of Puttur, but who was living at Kavoor Mescom quarters.

Mescom officials said that the reason for the incident is not clear. "They had put off the mainline leading to installation and were working on it when the incident took place. It is not clear whether the incident was due to electrocution or something else. Prima facie, it did not look like electrocution. Narayana is in the ICU and his condition is serious. Both suffered head injuries when they fell down from the HT installation," said an official.

Mescom has ordered an inquiry into the incident by an assistant executive engineer. Both linemen were permanent employees of Mescom and were with the company since more than a decade.
