Puttur, Nov 20, 2019: A mentally ill youth who harassed a woman by trying to strangle her while she was travelling in a train from Puttur to Edamangala was caught hold of by the railway staff and public and handed over to the police on November 19, Tuesday. The woman has also lodged a complaint with the Railway Police.
The accused has been identified as Satish, a resident of Kombaru Bottadka in Kadaba taluk.
The woman Asha who works in a printing press at Puttur was on way to a relative’s house at Edamangala on Tuesday. As the train was nearing Savanoor, Satish who was in the same compartment all of a sudden placed his hand on her neck and tried to strangle her.
As Asha raised a cry other passengers rushed to her help and the accused was later handed over to the police.
His mother has visited the Kadaba station along with all documents relating to his treatment. It has been gathered that Satish who had undergone treatment at a hospital in Mangaluru was discharged just a few days ago. On Monday he had somehow escaped from home.
