Members of KMMA urge DC to vacate illegal street hawkers

Mangalore, Jan 23, 2014: The members of Kankanady market merchant association (KMMA) submitted a memorandum to DC AB Ibrahim demanding to vacate street hawkers.


In the memorandum, the association stated that they are not opposing the street vendors for conducting their business, but they must run their business legally from the stalls managed by the Mangalore City Corporation and pay the rent.

They also urged the district administration to intervened the issue and vacate the street hawkers.


They also stated that the legal market merchants are facing huge loss in business due to the illegal street vendors. The street vendors who have occupied the streets to run their business from Kankanady to Jeppu Market have made the market merchants to suffer. 


If the district administration fails to take action against these street vendors, then legal merchants will also come to street to run their business, he warned.
