Media restriction in state assembly not proper: Justice Santosh Hegde

Mangaluru, October 13, 2019: Former Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde has opined that it was not proper on the part of the state government to ban private channels from telecasting the proceedings of the state assembly.

Justice Hegde was speaking to media men on the sidelines of a programme in Mangaluru on October 12, Saturday.

On recent IT raids in the state, Justice Hegde said raids happen against those who have amassed disproportionate assets. It is but natural for the opposition parties to blame the ruling government when such raids take place, he said.

On the recent resignation of some IAS officers, Justice Hegde said he was not agreeable to such things. There should be no scope for one to be carried away by emotion while in service, he opined.
