Mayor states Thumbe water for only a day more

Mangaluru,May 12, 2016: An official release from Mayor Harinath on May11, Wednesday states that water storage at the Thumbe vented dam will be enough for a day’s supply to the city.  He added that inflow in the Netravathi had stopped and hence it would be impossible to lift water from the dam.  The river has completely dried up, he said.

The Mayor appealed to people in the city to inform the civic body about the open wells and borewells in the city from which water could be lifted for supplying to each ward through tankers. Those water sources should be in usable condition.

People having open wells and borewells could come forward voluntarily to join hands with the corporation to share water from such water sources. Such people could contact Prameela M.K., Zonal Commissioner, corporation, at 9482006785 for giving information about water sources.
