Mangaluru, April 14, 2017 : Good Friday, which marks the crucification of Jesus Christ and is one of the most important days for Christians, is being observed with solemnity and religious fervour across parishes in the city on April 14, Friday.
The church ceremonies on this day include reading of the Passion of Christ, reciting a string of prayers, unveiling and veneration of the Cross and communion service.
The Roman Catholic Church observes Good Friday with several long-standing traditions, all of which aim at remembering Jesus Christ and his sacrifice for the sins of humans.
Many church services are held in the afternoon, usually around noon or midday to 3pm, to remember the hours when Jesus was crucified. In Mangaluru churches the main service of Good Friday will be held at 4 pm.
