Mathematician Prof. Stephen Vadakkan found dead at YMCA Hostel

Mangalore, Feb 6, 2014 : Prof. Stephen Vadakkan, a well-known scholar, philosopher and mathematician  has been found  dead  at the YMCA Hostel in the city on February 6, Thursday. The body was decomposed.The suspicion is that he might have committed suicide.

Prof. Stephen Vadakkan who was  61 years old was staying at the hostel since January 31. The watchman of the hostel who happened to pass by the room where Prof Vadakkan was staying  sensed some foul smell and  he looked inside only to find the professor dead.

It has been reliably gathered that he has left a letter  asking to pay the room fee. Sources said he was a divorcee. The Professor’s son in Karkala has been  informed, police said. Investigations are underway by Kadri police.

Prof. Stephen  hailed from Doopadakatte in Karkala.
