Mastabhisheka’ of Karkala Bahubali concludes

Karkala, May 13, 2015: The Mahamastakabhisheka  of the sacred monolithic statue of Bahubali in Karkala, concluded on May 10, Sunday. The great anointing, which is held in every 12 years, started on January 21 and concluded on January 31. The anointing took place at intervals and the last anointing was held on may 10, Sunday, by the Mahamastakabhisheka Samithi.

Mastabhisheka’ of Karkala Bahubali concludes1008 kalashabhisheka (pots) was held as part of this ritual.


Water of 350 tender coconuts, 300 litre sugarcane juice, 600 litre milk, 100 kg kala churna, 120 kg turmeric, 500 litre kashaya, 100 kg sandalwood, 600 kg red sander and 60 kg asthagandha were used.


Also, flowers, gold, a 60 feet long garland, chathushkona kalasha and Purna Kumbhabhisheka were offered to the deity.Jain mutt pontiff Lalithakeerthi Bhattaraka Swamiji, Digambara munis, Mahamastakabhisheka committee working President M N Rajendrakumar took part along with a huge assembly of devotees.
