The heavy rains in the ghat road  resulted in multiple landslides at several places on Tuesday night.  Even the vehicles of the rescue teams led by social worker Charmady Hasanabba  were literally in distress due to landslides. Fire service personnel and several others too were trapped.

As of now all vehicles that remained stranded due to the landslides have been vacated. But, Charmady Hasanabba’s car is caught in the  slush and is still not out.

Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil and District Superintendent of Police Laxmi Prasad  visited the Charmady Ghat area to take stock of the situation  there.

Belthangady Circle Inspector Sandesh, Dharmasthala Inspector Avinash, Belthangady Tahsildar and other revenue officials were present all through the night and oversaw the works of clearing the road of the slush as well as branches of the uprooted trees.
