Married man behind bars for raping mentally challenged girl

Bhatkal, Aug 4, 2014 :  The Bhatkal police have arrested a father of three  for allegedly raping a mentally challenged girl since  several days.

The arrested man  is Narayan Naik (45) from Yelvadikavur in Bhatkal. Sources said he used to  enter the girl’s house as soon as her brother went out for work every day and rape the  hapless girl.

However, things changed for better on August 2, Saturday when a school boy noticed Narayan entering the girl’s house everyday and informed her brother. On Sunday, the girl’s brother went out of the house as usual, but this time remained in hiding  in a neighbour’s house. When he saw Narayan enter his house, he rushed in and tried to catch hold of him but in vain. He immediately intimated the police and the accused who was in hiding  was arrested.

Both the girl and the accused have been subject to medical test. Police have also recorded the girl’s statement and has produced it  before the magistrate.

The accused is said to be in police custody.
