Manipal youth only Indian selected for Royal Australian Air Force

Manipal, July 11, 2011:Manipal-born Sudeep Sudhakar is the only Indian to be selected to serve the Royal Australian Air Force. He is one of the 92 people selected for the purpose.

Sudeep (26) is the son of U. Sudhakar Salian, the extension counter officer of T. A. Pai Management Institute in Manipal, and Yashwanti S. Salian, a commerce professor at MGM College.

Sudeep decided to become a citizen of Australia after completing his PG in product development and computational fluid dynamics from Deacon University.

He completed his early education in Madhava Kripa School in Manipal before completing his PU education at MGM PU College. He got his bachelors degree in mechanical engineering at National Institute of Engineering Mysore and then went to Australia for higher education.

Sudeep actively participated in extra curricular activities such as athletics, swimming, shuttle badminton, basketball, and other activities. He also won the president’s medal for scout activities when he was in SSLC. He represented the Vishweshwarayya Technological University in South India Level Badminton Tournament.

Sudeep began his career as a design engineer in Australia. He was appointed as the flying officer in the aerospace engineering department of Royal Australian Air Force after a five-round interview.
