According to a press release here on Wednesday, Dr. Bhat said that the book dealt with various aspects of intellectual property rights providing guidance to researchers on the safeguards for potentially patentable research. “It also serves as a ready reckoner for academicians,” he said.

Nominal pricing

While praising the work done by the author, Manthan Janodia, in bringing out the book, Dr. Bhat said that MUP priced its books nominally without compromising the quality of the contents and presentation.

“MUP is planning to publish journals and other periodicals in different disciplines,” he said.

Dr. Bhat urged researchers and faculty members to contribute their articles to these publications.

MUP has already published journals on respiratory care and research reviews of projects conducted in the University, he said.

Dr. Janodia said that the idea of bringing out the book was to simplify the complex issues of patents.

“This book will help readers comprehend any subject easily. My research on intellectual property rights encouraged me to write this book,” he said.

Best souvenirs

N. Udupa, Director of Research (Health Sciences), Manipal University, said that books are the best souvenirs and books published by MUP are remarkably good because of the way they are edited and published.

Neeta Inamdar, Head of the Department of European Studies, Manipal University, said that there was the need for more such books on intellectual property rights and patenting. This book would serve as an introductory to the topic, she said.
