Manipal: Man loses money after revealing Debit card details to fraudster

Manipal: September 19, 2015: In a yet another case of fraud, a man has been conned of about Rs. 14,300 by a fraudster who took his debit card’s number on phone.

According to the Manipal police, Gurucharan S., who works as a security guard, had an account with Syndicate Bank. He received a call at 4.26 p.m. on September 17, where the caller said that he was a bank employee.

The caller asked for his Aadhaar card number, ATM number and PIN number, which he gave. Soon, Mr. Gurucharan found that Rs. 14,300 had been withdrawn from his account.

A case had been registered under Sections 66(C), 66 (D) of the Information Technology Act and Section 420 of Indian Penal Code and investigations were on, the police said.
