Mangaluru violence : Will ensure justice if those arrested are proved innocent, says Home Minister

Mangaluru, Dec 31 2019:  State Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai has said that he has instructed the authorities to initiate stern action against those found guilty in the recent violence that broke out during the Anti-Citizenship Amendment Act protest in Mangaluru. At the same time  measures would be taken to ensure justice in case those presently in judicial custody are proved innocent in the investgiation.

The Home Minister was reacting to allegations that innocents have been arrested in connection with the incident. He was speaking to reporters after reviewing the law and order situation at a meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on December 31, Tuesday.

On the state government withholding the compensation announced to the police firing victims, the minister said  suitable measures will be taken on the basis of  the investigation report.

He also said he has asked the authorities to conduct ward level peace meetings.
