Mangaluru prison clash: Relatives of victims try to attack photo journalists

Mangaluru, Nov 3, 2015 : Family members of   undertrials Madoor Isubu and Ganesh Shetty who were killed in the clash at  the District  Prison on November 2, Monday reportedly tried to attack four photo journalists who were busy clicking photographs and videographing the former who were protesting in front of the mortuary of the Government Wenlock Hospital.

 It was said that the family members of the deceased under trials had  gathered in front of the mortuary since morning  and were demanding that they be shown the bodies of the two killed in the clashes. However when their demand was not met with until evening, they had started protesting.


But, when four photojournalists began clicking photos and videographing the developments, the angry relatives of the two killed undertrials attacked the lensmen and even tried to snatch their cameras. The police who rushed to the spot,  rescued the photojournalists.

 

Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists Union has strongly condemned this attack and asked the city police commissioner to extend protection to media representatives.
