Mangaluru lifter bags gold in Commonwealth bench press championship

Mangaluru, Sep 19, 2017: Pradeep Acharya, Mangaluru city based weight lifter, won a gold medal with ‘Best Lifter’ award in Commonwealth Bench Press Championship held Potchefstroom in South Africa from September 10 to 17, 2017.

Pradeep participated in 83 kilogram body weight group and lifted 190 kilogram weight to win the award in senior Bench Press championship. He is the first Indian to get ‘Best Lifter’ award in Commonwealth Bench Press championship.

He also participated in power lifting competition and won a gold medal and two silver medals. The medalist is a resident of Urva Store locality in north Mangaluru city.
