Mangaluru baby makes miraculous recovery, to be discharged from Bengaluru hospital in five days

Mangaluru, Feb 14, 2020: The 40-day-old baby that was rushed with severe heart complication has undergone a successful five-hour long surgery and in next five days the baby which is off the ventilator, will be discharged.

"The baby is off the ventilator and is doing fine and we have given very less antibiotics for few days. The baby is feeding on its own," said Dr CN Manjunath, director of Jayadeva Hospitals, Bengaluru.

The baby named Saiful Azhman was diagnosed with Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Connection, a congenital heart defect. Upon diagnosis, the doctors at Mangaluru advised the parents to shift the baby to Jayadeva hospital in Bengaluru for specialised treatment.

KMCC ambulance driver Haneef Balanja aided by help from jurisdictional police rushed the infant battling a serious heart condition from Fr Muller Medical College Hospital to Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research in Bengaluru with zero traffic being provided right from Mangaluru to Bengaluru.

The team of doctors headed by Dr Jayanth Kumar pulled off a miracle through this risky operation. Now, the parents have been asked to get a weekly consultation with a pediatric expert near their house in Mangaluru and return for a follow up after three months.
