Mangaluru, Sep 28, 2015: DK District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai will flag off a Padayatra to be organised by the DK Youth Congress on September 29, Tuesday against the ‘immoral goondaism in the district.
Informing this to reporters at a press meet held at the District Congress Office on September 28, Monday, District Youth Congress President Mithun Rai said the Padayatra will commence from near the Gandhi statue at Lalbagh at 2.30 pm and conclude at Kankanady Maidan where several dignitaries including religious heads of different faiths will address a meeting. He said the rally aims at creating an awareness among the people about the ill-effects of the immoral goondaism resorted to by the Sang Parivar outfits. He also strongly felt that such incidents which aimed at creating a communal divide has hit hard the reputation of the district.
To a question as to whether the Congress Government had failed to crack down the immoral goondaism in the district, Rai replied in the negative. He defended the state government stating it had taken all necessary measures. He said such communal incidents are like communicable diseases which need to be checked.
To another question on Yettinahole, he said the Youth Congress was against the project and would support the movement against the project. At the same time he said the Youth Congress would decide on the campaign against the project only after convening an internal meet to discuss the issue.
