Mangaluru: Young girl found dead at home in Attavar, murder suspected

Mangaluru, Jun 07, 2019 : In a shocking incident a girl found dead at home in Attavar on June 07, Friday.

Anjana Vasista(22) daughter of Manjunatha Y N of Chikkamagaluru is identified as the deceased. She was a student and was staying as a paying guest in Attavar.


Investigations revealed that Anjana had completed her MSc degree Ujire and had come here to attend banking examination training held at a coaching centre on June 2. She was accompanied a man known to her, falsely claimed themselves to be a couple were staying at paying guest accommodation in Attavar.


She had returned to her native place after her exams. As her companion contacted her over phone and convinced her to come back, she return back on Friday and was found dead the same evening. She was strangled to death using a television cable wire. Later, he locked the door from outside and fled from spot is suspected. The maid got suspicion  as the door of the room in which they stayed was not opened the whole day informed the matter to the land lord. When they broke opened the door it was found that the girl was murdered.

The matter came to light that Anjana’s family was proceeding of fixing her alliance with someone else.
Rs15,000 was withdrawn by Anjana’s debit card from two ATMs on Friday, June 7. Police is looking for the man who could behind the murder.


The reason behind the death is yet to ascertain. Investigations are underway.
