Mangaluru : Workers decamp with Rs 18 lakh from employer’s house at Konchady

Mangaluru July 03, 2016 : A house belonging  to a builder at Konchady was burgled and cash  to the tune of Rs 18 lakh was stolen  on July 3, Saturday evening. CCTV images have revealed that two workers  who were appointed by the house owner to serve as a maid and watchman had committed the theft along with four others.

The theft had taken place  at around 6. 30 pm when Rao and his family had left for a relative’s house. In fact the maid named Jyothi (22) and Shiva (32) said to be from Dharwad were employed by the builder  just a few days ago after the former approached him on seeing an advertisement in a daily. It is learnt they were provided an outhouse to reside.

CCTV images show the  duo entering house by first burning the front door and then breaking it open using sharp tools. There were a total of six persons while the other four only assisted Shiva and Jyothi.

A complaint has been lodged with Kavoor police and investigations are underway.
