Mangaluru : Water pipeline burst during drainage work claims lives of 2 labourers

Mangaluru, Nov 02, 2015 :  In a tragic incident, two labourers of north Karnataka origin who were engaged in underground drainage work near the Mangaluru Central Railway Station at Hampankatta  lost their lives due to a sudden water pipeline burst   on November 2, Monday.The deceased are Raghu from Badami and Babu.

It has been gathered that the water pipeline connecting Pandeshwar and Wenlock Hospital burst during the drainage works resulting  in a sudden gush of water  as well as mud. Both the labourers were buried in the slush. Efforts to rescue them by the fire service and police personnel went in vain. The bodies were later retrieved from the slush.

Mayor Jacintha Vijay Alfred, Mangaluru  South MLA JR Lobo and other officials visited the  spot.
