Mangaluru : Under trial attacked in district prison

Mangaluru, May 9, 2017 : An under trial was injured in a clash that ensued between prisoners at the  sub-jail  here on May 8, Monday evening. The clash took place near the  recently inaugurated visitors’ gallery. The injured Pratap Rai from Puttur has been hospitalised. He was arrested recently in connection with a crime reported from Moodbidri.

It is said he was attacked by Bombay Faizal, Nasir Altaf and Mohammad. Though the  court had ordered shifting of Bombay Faizal to the Bengaluru prison about a month back, the order had not been executed.

On Monday evening the clash took place when inmates from the A and B wings were sent to the visitors’ gallery to meet their family members and  friends. It is said at this juncture there was some argument when the three accused attacked Pratap with stones and interlocks.

The CCTV in the jail premises has recorded the  attack incident. Barke police are investigating the case.
