Mangaluru: ’#Tuluto8thSchedule’ goes trending on Twitter

Mangaluru, Aug 11,2017 :  On Thursday  it was #Tuluto8thSchedule Hashtag that was trending in  Twitter, thanks to Jai Tulunadu  youngsters who embarked upon this Twitter campaign to prevail upon  the authorities to fulfil a longstanding  demand of the region - to include Tulu in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.

The campaign which commenced at 6 am concluded at 9 pm with as many as 45,200 people tweeting for the cause. There were  18,700 retweets.  Of those who tweeted 83% were men and 17% women. Of the total tweets, as much as 16,300 tweets were made by Tuluvas residing  abroad as well as in other parts of the state.

The tweets were made to the Prime Minister, Chief Minister, Home Minister and External Affairs Minister.Chikkamagaluru MLA C T Ravi too actively took part in the campaign and made a series of tweets  supporting Tulu language and Tulunad.
