Mangaluru : Tension at Ganjimutt over trivial issue

Mangaluru, Dec 26, 2017:  A verbal duel that ensued between the crew of two buses  over a trivial issue  resulted in some tense moments at Gurupur Ganjimutt close by Vamanjoor on December 25, Monday night. It is said a dispute between two conductors over timings issue  had resulted in the tense situation. 

 

Some Ayyappa Vrithadharis who came to know that one of their men was abused arrived and   tried to intercept the bus  at around 8.30 pm  making matters worse.

Though the Bajpe police asked the  two groups to lodge   complaint,  people remained  at the spot. When the instructions of the police to vacate the place went unheeded, police had to wield batons when a  boy was reportedly injured.


Police clarify : Soon after the incident, news spread like wild fire in social sites that  cops had resorted to lathi charge against Ayyappa Vrithadharis.   Bajpe Inspector Parashiva Murthi who clarified, said the police have not assaulted anyone, and that someone might have been injured while wielding lathis to disperse the crowd.
