Mangaluru : Suspected sand mafia men attack youth in Kannur

Mangaluru, June 1, 2016 : It has come to light of late that a  youth was allegedly pulled out of a bus and severely assaulted by a gang of nearly 14 persons at Kannur. The incident is learnt to have taken  place on May 28.

 

It is suspected that  sand mafia was behind the attack as the youth had reportedly objected to sand mining. The injured youth Irshad of Kannur has been admitted to hospital. He is a labourer. Mangaluru Rural Police have registered a case.

The DYFI which has strongly condemned the attack has already submitted a memorandum to  Mangaluru Police Commissioner Chandra Shekhar  seeking action against the guilty, informed  DYFI leader Muneer Katipalla.
